AECF-KfW Roundtable on Mobilizing Private Sector Capital for Sustainable Development

On July 31, 2025, AECF, in partnership with KfW Development Bank, convened a high-level roundtable that brought together leaders from the private sector, development finance institutions, donors, and policymakers to discuss strategies for mobilizing private sector capital for sustainable development in Africa.
The event featured an engaging panel moderated by Francis Wachira, with contributions from Victoria Sabula (CEO, AECF), Jelena Jovanovic – Senior Advisor, Public and Private Partnerships, UNICEF, Isaiah Mutuma – CEO Lifta Kenya, and Eric Shikanda, Chief Operating Officer at Kenya Bankers SACCO. Panelists shared insights on innovative financing structures, blended finance approaches, and risk-sharing mechanisms to drive investment in high-impact sectors such as renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and inclusive finance.
Discussions explored real-world case studies from across Africa, highlighting how catalytic capital and public–private partnerships can de-risk investments, unlock billions in private sector funding, and foster inclusive economic growth.
This roundtable reinforces AECF’s mission to empower rural and marginalized communities by supporting private sector-led initiatives that deliver measurable social impact and sustainable livelihoods.
